Family Friendly Ideas For St Patrick's Day

St Patricks' Day is filled with the luck of the Irish, all things green, and a pint of Guinness with friends.

This year, St Patrick's Day falls on Saturday 17th March 2018, so it's a great excuse to get out with the family across the weekend, and join in on this happy occasion.

So what's coming up in Glasgow? Let's take a look:

1. Family Fun Day - Glasgow St. Patrick's Festival 2018

The Festival in conjunction with Tourism Ireland presents a day of family celebration with music, song and dance.

There's a host of restaurants and bars to cater for all tastes as you enjoy a great Glasgow Irish atmosphere with the best of live Irish music, songs and dancing from the likes of St Rochs Ceilí band, St Francis Pipe Band, Irish Dancing World Champions of the Sharon Taylor Dance Academy, Irish Ceili Dancing, face painting, balloon artist, stilt walker and much more!

When: Saturday 17th March 2018, 12 - 5pm

2. St. Patrick's Day Lane Party 2018

This year's lane party will be bigger and better than ever with increased shelter, heating, space, seating and entertainment.

Jammed in between live music, they will be showing the finale of the Natwest 6 Nations including Ireland v England!

When: Saturday 17th March 2018, from 11am. Children are welcome until 9pm.

3. St Patrick's Day in Coatbridge - Family Street Festival

Enjoy the atmosphere of Coatbridge town centre as it is transformed into a colourful world of music, both modern and traditional and performed by numerous acts on the day. Traditional Irish dance will also feature heavily as part of their celebrations.

There will be numerous kiddies attractions, as they welcome families into the town centre to celebrate St Patrick's Day in Coatbridge, which is arguably Scotland's most iconic Irish diasporic town.

4. Tattie Planting

In Glasgow, potatoes are traditionally planted on St. Patrick’s Day so War & Peas is joining in with this tradition!

Go along and celebrate St. Patrick’s day on the plot by planting their seed potatoes!
