A fantastic place to teach kids about farm animals.
Muiravonside Country Park in south-east Falkirk (30 minutes north-east of Glasgow) is 170 acres of woodland and parkland open to the public all year round.
As well as marked trails, picnic sites and a play area, you'll also find Newparks Farm – a small demonstration farm where a range of rare breed Scottish livestock, rescued animals and birds are homed.
Animals you will find:
Highland cattle: Billy and Freddie
Clydesdale horses: Hamish and Jake
Shetland ponies: Charlie, Robbie, Teddy and Eddie
Pigs: Red and Amber (Tamworths); Summer, Spring and Autumn (Wessex Saddle Backs)
Llamas: Fudge and Larry
Soay and Hebridean sheep
Amazon parrots: Chico, Alfie and Del
